Malbec - Argentina & Napa Valley, California Grapes for this Malbec are grown in the Andes Mountains of Argentina, then chilled and transported by ocean voyage to Caymus, where a delicate winemaking technique creates a style that is dense, dark and supple. Falling outside standard labeling rules, Red Schooner does not include a vintage date, but known by the voyage from which it traveled. Strikingly smooth, with scents and flavors of dark fruit and fine, textural tannins. The palate boasts lush plums and grippy tannins that touch the side of the tongue. An earthy character of leather and cooking over an open fire carries through to the long finish, whose fruit tapers off and yields to toasted wood.
